Do you need an "M" class to conduct a 3-wheel motorcycle in Illinois?
It depends on how it is titled. If a motorcycle 3 wheel conversion, as you see done with the golden wings and Harleys often, then yes, you will need an "M" class. If there is something more than a converted carriage house built or, as some of volkswagon trikes for example, then you can get by without it.
